Very Berry Skip-the-Sugar Slushie

image

This slushie is nothing but clean, natural and inexpensive. Store bought varieties contain added-sugar, artificial sweeteners, syrups, full-fat yogurts or additives and preservatives many times. It’s so important to know what you are putting into your body. Ask questions about the foods you order and do not assume foods described as healthy actually are. I found that for every slushie/smoothie I could purchase, I can make about 4 at home with the added benefit of controlling the ingredients, taste and calories.

Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients: 6 0z. blueberries, 6 oz. raspberries, 1 1/2 cups of ice

Step 1: Add berries to blender and pulse to your desired consistency.

Step 2: Add ice to berry mixture and blend (I use ice-crush setting) to achieve the texture you enjoy.

This recipe makes about 2 servings at about 200 calories per 8 oz. glass with only the natural sugar from the berries. I freeze my left overs for when I am craving a quick and healthy snack. In 5 – 10 minutes at room temperature, your slushie is perfectly cool and refreshing!
